That’s fantastic! Australia is great place to visit and we’re excited to help make that a reality for you!

There are a few factors that need to be considered first before you apply for a travel visa to Australia.

  1. 1. are you from an ETA eligible country?
  2. 2. do you have a valid passport from an ETA eligible country?
  3. 3. do you have a criminal convictions?
  4. 4. do you have any known health issues?

If your country is not listed above, or if you have a criminal conviction, or if you have health issues then you cannot apply for an ETA and will need to consider an EVV or a Visitor Visa instead.

But if you are from an ETA country, hold a valid passport, do not have any criminal convictions and are in good health, then you can apply for an ETA online.

Are you travelling for Tourism (to visit family, friends + sightseeing)? Or are you traveling for business related purposes? This can include attending meetings, workshops, conferences, or other professional events?

If you are travelling for tourism purposes, then it is best to apply for a Tourist ETA.

If you are travelling for business, then you should apply for the Business ETA.

Once you’ve selected the appropriate ETA, fill in your details, confirm and pay.

And that’s it! Our team will take it from there! We’ll submit it to the Australian Government for processing and notify you as soon as they have a result.

Remember: while most applications are processed quite quickly, some applications may take longer to be processed (especially if the Department of Home Affairs requests additional information) and may not be ready by the time you need to depart.

Therefore, we advise our clients to apply for their Electronic Travel Authorities to Australia well in advance of their travel dates so that there is adequate time to accommodate delayed processing times.

If you submitted your ETA application with Travel ETA then all you have to do is login to your account to view the status of your application.

‘Pending’ means it is still in the queue.

‘Processing’ means it has been submitted to the Department of Home Affairs.

‘Further Information Requested’ means the Department of Home Affairs has requested some additional information from you.

If you are having trouble logging into your account, or have any questions, please get in touch with our customer care team. Our office is open 24 hours a day, Monday to Friday.

If your ETA application was approved, you should have received an email confirming:

  • The expiry date
  • When you can start to use the visa
  • The reference number
  • The conditions of the visa
  • How many times you are permitted to enter Australia

If your ETA application was denied, then the Australian Government would have sent a notification outlining why your application was rejected.

You can also check on the Australian Government website to verify that your ETA is linked to your passport.

Awesome! Renewing your ETA is so easy! Go to Travel ETA and start your new application!

Before you apply, make sure your passport is still valid with at least 6 months left on it.

Applying for a new ETA should only take you 10 minutes!

That’s awesome, mate! However, tourists holding an ETA are not permitted to work in Australia.

Do not believe any ‘employers’ who claim that you can work on a tourist visa. It is NOT permitted, it is NOT a gateway for a work or student visa, and if you are caught, it’s not worth it!

If you want to work in Australia, then you may want to consider applying for a work visa or a working holiday visa instead!

If your ETA application is submitted with the correct information, and the Department of Home Affairs does not request further paperwork from you, then your ETA applications could be processed fairly quickly, sometimes as fast as 10 minutes!

However, in some cases, the Department of Home Affairs requests further information before they can process the ETA application.

In order to accommodate these time-consuming requests, we strongly advise all of our clients to submit their ETA applications early.

Ahhh! Mistakes happen to the best of us.

If you’ve found an error on your ETA application, not all hope is lost!

Login to your account and click the down arrow on your name at the top right hand corner.

Click on the ‘ETA Details’ tab, and see the status of your application. If your application is marked as ‘in progress’ then click on the ‘Messages’ tab and send a message to our team, alerting them of the change you want to make on your ETA application.

If your application is marked as ‘active’ then that means your application has already been approved, and you will need to submit a new ETA application with the correct information.

If you need it urgently, please get in touch with our customer care team on +61 3 9344 1571. They are available Monday to Friday, 24 hours a day.

To prevent this from happening, we highly recommend taking an additional 10 minutes to carefully review all of your details and make sure that everything is 100% correct before submitting your application. A few extra minutes now can save hours of panic later!
